Speak life over your life. Sounds crazy, huh? It works. It’s Biblical. Just hang tight and I’ll explain.
The last few days, me and my cousin (who is also a dear friend and business partner) have went back and forth talking about how people are coming into our business “out of the blue”. My response, “we have spoken life over our businesses”. I recently heard Jennifer Allwood say that she refuses to let her mom tell her daughter, “you’re going to catch a cold”. Instead, she instructs her mom to say to the grandchild, “you need to put on a jacket”. See the difference?
In the last few years, I have heard many leaders speak on this same subject. I’ve read many books that teach this as well. I’ve gone back to the source of truth (the Bible) and studied scripture that back this up. I train individuals in removing a negative mindset of memories and moving toward emotional freedom.
You’ve heard the verse in the Bible about moving the mountain, right? Did God said, “think about moving the mountain, and it will move”? No! In Mark 11:23, he says: “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.” KEY WORD: SAY. Are you speaking to your mountain (whatever it may be)? Mountains come in all shapes and sizes.
Just as we can use our words in a positive manner, we can use them for destruction. The Bible warns us of those things as well.
- Proverbs 15:4- The soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit.
- Ephesians 4:29- Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
- 1 Peter 3:10- For, “Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech.
We have to train our hearts and minds to think of those things which are good and speak LIFE. Do not give way to the negativity that can easily creep in. We can be our own worst enemy.
How often do you say similar things:
- I am so tired.
- I don’t feel good.
- I hate this drive to work.
- I’m fat.
- I don’t have enough money to (fill in the blank).
- No one likes me.
Are you ready to make positive affirmations, speaking life over your life?
One of my most favorite verses is Romans 4:17: (as it is written: “I have made thee a father of many nations”), in the presence of Him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead and calleth those things which are not, as though they were.
Maybe your bank account isn’t in good standing and isn’t overflowing with available funds. Just maybe, your body is weak and your soul is tired. Just maybe there is a lot of traffic. And I totally understand when the scales point to a higher number than you’d like to see. Clothes are tight and you just feel like crap. You feel alone, even in a world where people are all around you. I get it. I was there once too, and that’s a whole other post we can cover another day.
God says to call things as though they were…not as they are. Remember Romans 4:17?
Your circumstances are simply your current reality. It’s not your end.
Are you ready to speak blessings over your life? Affirmations seem weird. I get it. But once you start doing it, you’ll be amazed at how God works in your life. Do not let the devil come in and steal the joy and the blessings that are yours. Twice a day, speak with your outside voice, boldly, affirmations over your life. Say it like you mean it. Stand and raise your arms like superman. Take control of your life!
- I am financially free.
- I feel amazing, satisfied, and blessed.
- I love that God made me in His image.
- I am grateful for my car and my job.
- I enjoy talking to you God on my way to work.
- I am free of (fill in the blank).
WARNING: Affirmations should NOT include the words “want” or “will”. You speak affirmations in present tense, as though it were. Do not use any negative words, such as “debt” or “weight loss”. Debt implies negativity. Loss implies you’ll find it later. Be cautious of your words!
You may ask, where should I say these affirmations? Easy. Anywhere your heart so chooses. In the yard, barefoot in the grass. In your shower. On the beach. In the sun. In the dark. In a creek. On a boat. Wherever you are. Just do it!
Write or print off scripture, hanging them in a spot to help remind you that words are powerful. Here is a good list to start with. Also print off your words of affirmation, the blessings you are speaking over YOUR LIFE.
Here are just pictures of me doing my daily affirmations in various places, just to give you ideas.
After a few days, you’ll see just how good it feels to speak LIFE. Let this be a positive habit you do for YOU daily! We all have friends that need a special blessing. Encourage them with this post. And just think, what if you spoke life over your friends?! What if? Be blessed!
