A decadent breakfast can be quick and simple. With a few ingredients that you probably have on hand, you can have a very filling breakfast that is hearty and delicious. This recipe will serve 4 people, each having 4 pieces. The carb count will depend on your ingredients, but for us, it is only about 2 carbs per serving
- 4 Slices of Keto Bread- I use the Lewis brand from Walmart
- 1 egg
- 1/2 C Unsweetened Almond Milk (could use heavy whipping cream)
- Few dashes of Ground Cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. Maple Flavoring (could use vanilla flavoring)
- 1 T. Xylitol
- Butter
Cut your slices of bread into three pieces for each slice. This will give you 12 pieces of French toast in the end.
In a small bowl, combine the egg, milk, cinnamon, flavoring, and xylitol. Mix well. dip each piece of bread into your egg mixture, being sure to coat each side.
In a nonstick skillet, melt some butter to cook your French toast. I start off with about a heaping teaspoon. Lay your drenched pieces of bread into the skillet and cook until each side has been toasted and golden brown. Do not crowd your pieces, and continue this process until all of your French toast is done.
To serve, I plate up 4 pieces of French toast crisscrossed and stacked with a dollop of butter, drizzled with sugar-free syrup (we like sugar free Mrs. Buttersworth, some berries, topped off with sugar free Cool Whip. Enjoy!
